Being able to build tools for your own use can be a blessing and a curse. I have a specific long-form topic in mind that I want to write about, and I have a specific kind of interface in mind, that I think would help a lot to organize the material and work.

Now I have to decide: do I make a runnable version out of what I imagine, thereby procrastinating actually researching and writing; Do I take the stance "tools don't matter", make do with whatever I already have (which is actually plenty, even though it feels ever so slightly off); Or the sad option three: procrastinate both of it.

Perfect should not the enemy of good, and tooling can easily turn out to be a gigantic time sink (xkcd has done the math). But would a nice tool not be better than nothing at all? One part of me wants to shake some sense into myself, and one wants to type git init... Damn it.
